Donald Trump is denying a report that he is considering Nikki Haley as a potential running mate in an uncharacteristically calm way.
On Saturday, Axios reported that Haley is ‘under active consideration’ by the Trump campaign to be his running mate, citing two sources familiar with the situation.
Hours later Trump denied that Haley is on his list of potential running mates.
“Nikki Haley is not under consideration for the V.P. slot, but I wish her well! DJT” he wrote on Truth Social.
Haley served as Trump’s ambassador to the United Nations before launching an unsuccessful bid for the GOP presidential nomination in 2024 against him.
During the campaign, Trump regularly referred to Haley as “bird brain” and threatened that her donors would be “permanently barred from the MAGA camp.”
Haley dropped out of the GOP primary in March and did not endorse Trump, saying at the time that it is up to him to earn the support of her voters.
Since then, Trump has made no effort to reach out to Haley or her supporters.
