Trump dismissed NYT report as fake news.

Donald Trump on Sunday dismissed the reporting from the New York Times about an Oval Office meeting with disgraced felon Michael Flynn and conspiracy lawyer Sidney Powell where they discussed Flynn’s idea about declaring martial law and have the military oversee a new election.

“Martial law = Fake News. Just more knowingly bad reporting!” Trump tweeted.

The New York Times reported on a tense meeting at the White House on Friday including Powell and her client Michael Flynn. Among the topics discussed were, invoking martial law, appointing Powell as special counsel to investigate voter fraud allegations and the possibility of Trump signing an executive order which would allow the government to access voting machines to inspect them. White House chief of staff, Mark Meadows and White House Counsel Pat Cipollone pushed back on the ideas that were being discussed with Cipollone reportedly telling Trump that there was no constitutional authority to do what they were discussing.

With one month to go before Joe Biden’s inauguration senior aides to Donald Trump are growing increasingly alarmed that Trump is listening to “conspiracy nuts” and may abuse the powers of the presidency to try and overturn the election.

One official told Axios, when Trump is “retweeting threats of putting politicians in jail, and spends his time talking to conspiracy nuts who openly say declaring martial law is no big deal, it’s impossible not to start getting anxious about how this ends.”

“People who are concerned and nervous aren’t the weak-kneed bureaucrats that we loathe. These are people who have endured arguably more insanity and mayhem than any administration officials in history,” the official added.
