Trump backed candidate for Arizona governor Kari Lake is already claiming that there is fraud in the GOP primary election, next week.
“I’m telling you right now, anybody trying to steal this, first of all, we’re already detecting some stealing going on, but you guys know I’m a fighter, right?” Lake said during a speech to the North Valley Constitutional Republicans. “We’re not gonna let them steal an election.”
Lake’s comments come as recent polling shows that the race between her and her main opponent Karrin Taylor Robson is tightening. Robson is endorsed by former Vice-President Mike Pence and current Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey.
Lake has said Robson’s unwillingness to fully embrace Trump’s lie about the 2020 election being stolen makes her a RINO, or “Republican in name only.”
“My opponent, the RINO, is trying to tell people that she’s doing well, she’s up in the polls, which is, I guess if you’re counting people who are, you know, dead people,” Lake said at a rally in Tucson recently. “But she’s not up at the polls. It makes me think they might be trying to set the stage for another steal.”
Robson fired back in an interview with NBC News telling the outlet that Lake foreshadowing that she might not accept the results if she loses is “dangerous for Arizona; it’s dangerous for the country, because it undermines our government, our democracy.”
