Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Bob Good’s (R-Va.) opponent in the Republican primary days after the lawmaker attended the former president’s hush money trial in New York.
“Bob Good is BAD FOR VIRGINIA, AND BAD FOR THE USA,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post. “He turned his back on our incredible movement, and was constantly attacking and fighting me until recently, when he gave a warm and “loving” Endorsement – But really, it was too late. The damage had been done!”
Good, the chairman of the House Freedom Caucus, initially endorsed Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in the GOP primary. He quickly endorsed Trump after DeSantis dropped out of the race.
Last week, Good was part of a large group of Republicans who traveled to Trump’s New York criminal trial to rail against the judge overseeing the case.
“We’re seeing today what lengths the Democratic Party will go to [in order] to try to rig or steal another election,” Good told reporters outside the courthouse. “This is a crooked sham trial to try to hurt the nominee. He’s gonna be the president of the United States whether or not they like it or whether or not they want that to happen.”
However, Trump believes Good is not the man to help ‘Make America Great Again.’
“I just want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN, and the person that can most help me do that is Navy Seal and highly respected State Legislator, John McGuire, a true American Hero,” Trump continued. “John, who fought the Cartels on the Front Line, and then came home and fought the drug dealers in Virginia, will ALWAYS PUT AMERICA FIRST.”
“John McGuire has my Complete and Total Endorsement,” Trump added.
Good will face off against McGuire in a Republican primary on June 18.
