Trump endorses Jim Jordan for House Speaker.

Who will be the new Speaker of the House in 2023?

Donald Trump has endorsed Rep. Jim Jordan (R-Ohio) to be the next Speaker of the House after Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) was ousted this week.

“Congressman Jim Jordan has been a STAR long before making his very successful journey to Washington, D.C., representing Ohio’s 4th Congressional District. Respected by all, he is now Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee,” Trump wrote on his Truth Social app.

“He is a STRONG on Crime, Borders, our Military/Vets, & 2nd Amendment. Jim, his wife, Polly, & family are outstanding – He will be a GREAT Speaker of the House, & has my Complete & Total Endorsement!” he added.

Jordan is running against House Majority Leader Steve Scalise (R-La.) to replace McCarthy, who was removed as Speaker earlier this week– the first time a sitting Speaker was ousted from the position.

Trump was being floated as a possible replacement for McCarthy and he was even entertaining the idea, but Politico reported Friday that his political advisers and House allies managed to convince him it was a terrible idea.
