Trump hit with brutal new poll on immigration.

A new poll shows voters souring on Donald Trump’s immigration policies since he took office in January.

A Gallup poll released on Friday shows “record-high” number of US adults, 79%, now “consider immigration good for the country” while a record-low 17% see immigration as a bad thing.

Thirty percent of Americans want immigration decreased, down from 55% last year.

Along party lines, independent support for reducing immigration dropped 21 points from 51% to 30%. Among Democrats, it fell from 28% to 16%.

The largest drop in support for reducing immigration was recorded among Republicans, down a staggering 40 points from 88% last year to 48% this year.

The Gallup poll comes as stories about ICE raids targeting workplaces and new controversial detention centers are dominating headlines.

The poll also showed waning support for Trump’s border wall, mass deportation policy and increasing the number of Border Patrol agents.

Overall, just 35 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s handling of  immigration, including 21% strongly approving, while 62% disapprove, including 45% strongly.

The Gallup poll was conducted between June 2-26 among 1,402 U.S. adults, including oversamples of Hispanic and Black Americans, weighted to match national demographics.
