Donald Trump is angry that his son’s girlfriend Kimberly Guilfoyle is supporting former Missouri Gov. Eric Greitens in his bid to fill retiring senator Roy Blunt’s seat in the United States Senate.
Guilfoyle joined Greitens’ Senate campaign as its national chairwoman in April. This move irritated Trump who is concerned that Guilfoyle working on the disgraced former governor’s campaign will be seen as an implicit endorsement from Trump, and he’s worried that Greitens will not win in 2022.
“Trump thinks Greitens is problematic, and that Kim is annoying,” one Trump adviser told POLITICO playbook. “He said, ‘Why the f— is she working for him?’”
Grietens resigned in 2018 as governor amid mounting scandals including allegations that he tied up, sexually assaulted and blackmailed a woman he was having an affair with.
Still, Greitens have a 40 point lead over the rest of the field which includes Rep. Bill Long (R-Mo.), and Missouri A.G. Eric Schmitt both of whom went to Mar-a-Lago at some point since announcing their bid for the seat to pay homage to Trump.
