Donald is reportedly angry with Kevin McCarthy, again. This time it’s over his failure to rein in House Conference chair Liz Cheney who openly expressed her thoughts about Donald Trump not being a part of the Republican Party going forward.
According to Politico, McCarthy is on Trump’s hit list for his speech on Sunday because Trump blames him for the new emboldened Liz Cheney. Advisors close to Trump believes the House Minority Leader “may be in for a public reprimand,” on Sunday.
Cheney was one of ten House Republicans who voted to impeach Donald Trump. The backlash from the party was swift with some close allies of Trump calling for her to step down from her leadership role in the Republican conference.
McCarthy pleaded with his conference to keep her as caucus chair and whenever she criticizes Trump, he is reminded of McCarthy’s ‘betrayal’.
Trump’s displeasure with McCarthy renewed on Wednesday when Cheney said she does not believe that he should have a say in the future of the Republican Party. She contradicted McCarthy who was at the press conference and offered no pushback other than to abruptly end the meeting.
He went on Fox News the next day and took a swipe at Cheney, suggesting that she supports cancel culture.
