Trump is more unpopular in the U.S. than Zelensky: Poll

Donald Trump has a higher unfavorablity rating among Americans than Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, a new Economist/YouGov survey finds.

The poll shows both leaders at 47 percent favorability rating. However, Trump’s 49 percent unfavorability rating nearly doubles Zelensky’s 28 percent.

Among respondents who say they view both Trump and Zelensky unfavorably, 41 percent say they view Trump ‘very unfavorably’ while 8 percent have a ‘somewhat unfavorable’ view of the US president.

Meanwhile, 14 percent have a ‘very unfavorable’ view of Zelensky and another 14 percent view the Ukrainian presidential ‘somewhat unfavorably.’

The Economist/YouGov poll comes as Trump is escalating his attacks on the Ukrainian president using language straight from the Kremlin.

Earlier this week, Trump incorrectly said that Ukraine started the war with Russia.

He also slammed Zelensky as “a Dictator without Elections” in a Truth Social post and falsely claimed his approval rating among Ukrainians is at rock bottom.

“I love Ukraine, but Zelenskyy has done a terrible job, his Country is shattered,” he added.

Zelensky was democratically elected and Ukraine’s constitution allows for elections to be postponed under martial law, which was invoked because of Russia’s invasion.

The Economist/YouGov poll was conducted among 1,600 U.S. adults from February 16-18. It has a margin of error of ±3.3 percentage points.
