Donald Trump Jr. was deposed earlier this month as part of the Washington D.C Attorney General Karl Racine’s investigation into misuse of Trump inauguration funds, according to court documents filed on Tuesday.
According to the filing Trump Jr’s February 11 deposition “raised further questions about the nature” of a hotel invoice the AG’s office has been investigating.
Racine’s office allege that the Trump Organization signed a contract with Loews Hotels for $49,358.92 for a block of rooms at the Madison Hotel during the 2017 inauguration, and sent the invoice to the Presidential Inaugural Committee which then paid the bill.
Trump Jr.’s executive assistant, Lindsey Santoro was listed as the point person for the contract regarding the booking of the block of rooms. Gentry Beach, described as a close friend of Trump Jr’s signed the contract.
But, Donald Trump Jr testified that he did not authorized Santoro or Beach to enter a contract on behalf of the Trump organization. And Beach claims the rooms were reserved for donors to the Presidential Inaugural Committee.
“People who were associated with the Madison Hotel rooms and invoice included individuals that Trump Jr. described as a college friend and another as a “Trump family driver.” Trump testified that one of the people associated with the rooms was a “New York socialite” who appears on the reality show “Real Housewives of New York,” The Hill reports.
