Trump lawyer accuses Democrats of abusing power to interfere in a 'free and fair' election.

An attorney for Donald Trump accused Democrats of abusing the power of their offices to interfere in a presidential election.

Trump and his allies have been falsely claiming that his legal troubles are somehow the product of Joe Biden’s White House pulling the strings behind the scenes.

On Monday, Trump attorney Chris Kise told Fox News host Jesse Waters that Democrats are abusing power to interfere in the upcoming presidential election.

“The Democrats claim that Trump is a threat to democracy. The real threat to democracy is the willingness to abuse the power of your office to influence what should otherwise be a free and fair election,” Kise said, according to a clip shared by Mediaite.

He continued: “That’s exactly what’s going on downtown in the courtroom. I mean, look at just this week. You’ve got a hearing in a civil case about essentially nothing. You’ve got a criminal trial starting. And later this week, there’ll be a Supreme Court argument. All in cases that were made up specifically for the purpose of influencing the outcome of an election.”

Kise’s comments come as Trump is facing federal charges relating to his attempts to overturn the results of the 2020 presidential election which he lost and is still falsely claiming was stolen from him.

The former president is also indicted in Georgia for trying to overturn the results of the election in the state by pressuring Georgia’s Secretary of State to “find” 11780 votes.

Trump is also under federal indictment for alleged mishandling of classified documents after he left office and obstruction of justice.

The former president’s fourth criminal case is underway in New York where he faces 34 felony counts of falsifying business records tied to hush money paid to adult-film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign.
