Donald Trump’s attorney Alina Habba criticized New York Attorney General Letitia James on Monday, saying she is “just not that bright.”
“She’s just not that bright. I’m sorry, I have to say it. I’ve seen their case, I’ve seen their lawyers. They don’t know what they’re talking about,” Habba said during an appearance on Newsmax.
James is accusing the Trump family business of falsely inflated and deflated the value of its assets to receive lower taxes and better insurance coverage in a $250 million lawsuit.
“Just because a bank who’s giving you a loan says it’s worth what the loan amount is, which is what happens when anybody takes a loan out, they’re never going to say the real value,” Habba said Monday.
“She needs to educate herself,” Habba added referring to James. “They’re using tax-assessed values and saying that they’re fair market values, the judge is agreeing with them. It’s like being in a circus… it’s just ridiculous. Anybody with a brain understands that this is just completely insane.”
Judge Arthur Engoron already found Trump, his sons Don Jr. and Eric and their companies liable for fraud. The trial is to determine damages.
