Trump lawyer sent an email blaming Mike Pence for Capitol riot during the insurrection.

While former Vice-President Mike Pence was hiding from a mob of Trump supporters storming the Capitol on Jan. 6, Donald Trump’s attorney John Eastman reportedly sent an email blaming him for the riot because he did not overturn the results of the election.

According to the Washington Post, Eastman sent the email to Pence’s chief counsel Greg Jacob blaming his boss for the attack as the VP and his staff were under armed guard in a secure area on Capitol Hill.

“The ‘siege’ is because YOU and your boss did not do what was necessary to allow this to be aired in a public way so that the American people can see for themselves what happened,” Eastman wrote.

Eastman was responding to a profanity-laced email from Jacob blasting his legal advice and saying it was the reason Pence was “under siege” at the Capitol.

Jacob wrote about the exchange in a opinion piece in January but decided not to publish it.

Jacob wrote that Eastman had “displayed a shocking lack of awareness of how those practical implications were playing out in real time,” Jacob wrote, in the draft article obtained by the Washington Post.

Jacob also called for an investigation into whether Trump attorneys “grossly abused their credentials”.

“Vice President Pence rejected the spurious legal theories that were pitched to him, and he did his duty. An inquiry should be made into whether the President’s outside lawyers did theirs,” he said.
