Officials in New Jersey are looking into whether convicted felon, Donald Trump is allowed to keep liquor licenses at his New Jersey properties.
The New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control, part of the AG’s office, is “reviewing the impact of President Trump’s conviction on the above referenced licenses, and declines further comment at this time,” a spokesperson for the AG’s office told the Associated Press Monday.
Trump owns three golf courses in New Jersey— Bedminster, Colts Neck and Pine Hill —each of them has an active liquor license.
An individual convicted of a crime “involving moral turpitude” is not allowed to hold a liquor license in New Jersey.
The division’s handbook says the term ‘moral turpitude’ “denotes a serious crime from the viewpoint of society in general and usually contains elements of dishonesty, fraud or depravity.”
Last month, a jury in Manhattan convicted Trump on all 34 counts of falsifying business records to pay hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels in the final weeks of the 2016 presidential campaign.
