Donald Trump is promising to come up with a “much better” plan to replace the popular healthcare program Obamacare.
“Obamacare is too expensive, and otherwise, not good healthcare,” Trump wrote in a Truth Social post Monday. “I will come up with a much better, and less expensive, alternative! People will be happy, not sad!”
More than a decade after its passage, Obamacare remains a very popular healthcare law. According to a KFF tracking poll, 59% of Americans approve Obamacare.
Trump revived his push to repeal and replace Obamacare last month then tried to walk it back after facing criticism even from Republicans as they see this fight as a losing issue.
“I don’t want to terminate Obamacare, I want to REPLACE IT with MUCH BETTER HEALTHCARE,” Trump wrote at the time.
“Getting much better Healthcare than Obamacare for the American people will be a priority of the Trump Administration. It is not a matter of cost, it is a matter of HEALTH,” he added. “America will have one of the best Healthcare Plans anywhere in the world. Right now it has one of the WORST!”
