Donald Trump went on a Truth social rant Thursday morning against the Rupert Murdoch owned Fox News and The Wall Street Journal after unfavorable coverage from both outlets.
“Rupert Murdoch has told me for years that he is going to get rid of his FoxNews, Trump Hating, Fake Pollster, but he has never done so,” wrote Trump. “This ‘pollster’ has gotten me, and MAGA, wrong for years. Also, and while he’s at it, he should start making changes at the China Loving Wall Street Journal. It sucks!!!”
Trump’s rant comes one day after a Fox News poll shows that he has the lowest approval rating of any president at the 100-day mark of his term at just 44%.
The poll also shows Trump underwater on nearly issue including foreign policy (40%-54%), the economy (38%-56%), tariffs (33%-58%), and inflation (33%-59%).
Meanwhile, the Journal’s editorial board op-ed on Thursday may have been what triggered the president.
Trump signaled on Wednesday that he is open to lowering tariffs on Chinese imports after markets continue to tumble.
“China called Mr. Trump’s bluff and seems to have won this round,” the Journal’s editorial board wrote.
“[Chinese President Xi Jinping] has cut off U.S. access to crucial rare-earth minerals, stopped the delivery of Boeing jets, looked elsewhere for food and natural-gas imports, and unleashed regulators against American companies,” they added.
The Journal has also been increasingly critical of Trump’s tariffs, once labelling them “the biggest threat to the world economy.” The editorial board also slammed Trump’s approach in dealing with Russian President Vladimir Putin.
