Donald Trump struck a pessimistic tone outside the Manhattan courthouse where his criminal hush money case is underway, telling reporters that “Mother Teresa” could not have beaten the charges he faces.
“Mother Teresa could not beat those charges. But we’ll see,” Trump said as he left the courtroom, repeating his claim that the case is “rigged.”
Trump is facing 34 felony charges of allegedly falsifying business records to pay hush money to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election to silence her story about his extramarital affair in 2006. Prosecutors argue that the payments is part of a conspiracy to influence the election.
Trump’s comments comes as the jury, made up of five women and seven men, were sent to the jury room to begin deliberations after six weeks of testimony.
