Donald Trump is reigniting his public feud with the nation’s top infections disease expert, Dr. Anthony Fauci after he criticized the Trump campaign for including him in a political ad where he appeared to endorsed Donald Trump and his handling of the coronavirus pandemic.
On Tuesday morning Trump tweeted:
“Actually, Tony’s pitching arm is far more accurate than his prognostications. “No problem, no masks”. WHO no longer likes Lockdowns – just came out against. Trump was right. We saved 2,000,000 USA lives!!!”
In the tweet he falsely claimed that the World Health Organization “no longer likes lockdown.” Last week the Covid-19 special envoy for the United Nations agency, said lockdowns should not be the “primary means of control of this virus.” At no point did the official say they do not like lockdowns, just that they aren’t the ” primary” way to handle the pandemic at this stage.
Trump’s latest attack is just another example of the White House attempting to undermine the most trusted member of their coronavirus task force. Unlike others in this administration Fauci has proven that he will not destroy his career to prop up Donald Trump.
Fauci has the trust of the American people, something Donald Trump will never have and since Fauci will not allow Trump to use the trust the American people have in Dr. Fauci for his own personal political gain, Trump wants to undermine him.
