Trump renews attack on mail-in voting after Putin, of all people, told him US elections are not ‘honest’.

Pennsylvania court declares mail-in voting law unconstitutional.

Donald Trump pledged on Monday to lead the effort to get rid of mail-in voting and voting machines in U.S. elections, before the 2026 midterm elections.

In a post riddled with lies on his Truth Social app, Trump falsely claimed that mail-in voting is rife with fraud and that the US is the only country that uses mail-in ballots.

“ELECTIONS CAN NEVER BE HONEST WITH MAIL IN BALLOTS/VOTING, and everybody, IN PARTICULAR THE DEMOCRATS, KNOWS THIS,” he wrote on Truth Social. “I, AND THE REPUBLICAN PARTY, WILL FIGHT LIKE HELL TO BRING HONESTY AND INTEGRITY BACK TO OUR ELECTIONS.”

Trump has opposed mail-in ballots over his baseless claims of widespread fraud which he insists cost him the 2020 presidential election. Experts say the 2020 presidential election was the most secure in history and nearly 60 cases brought by the Trump campaign challenging the results were thrown out by judges.

Additionally, dozens of other countries use mail-in voting incliding Canada, the United KingdomGermanyAustralia, and Switzerland.

Trump’s renewed attacks on mail-in voting comes days after his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Alaska.

In an interview after the summit, Trump told Fox News host Sean Hannity that Putin said that US elections are not honest because of mail-in voting.

“Vladimir Putin, smart guy, said you can’t have an honest election with mail-in voting,” Trump said.

Putin has been Russia’s president or prime minister since 1999. He was re-elected to another term in office with 87% of the vote in a 2024 election that drew allegations of vote rigging from some independent polling observers, opposition voices and Western governments.
