Donald Trump criticized Democrats for focusing their attacks on him at the party’s convention in Chicago after Barack Obama and Michelle Obama torched him in their speeches on Tuesday night.
In an interview with conservative radio host Hugh Hewitt on Wednesday, Trump claimed that Democrats are “out of control” because they’re attacking him at what he calls their “little party” in Chicago.
“I was mentioned at the Democrats’ little party that they have going on in Chicago, and it’s pretty sad,” Trump told Hewitt after he was asked about “rhetoric” being used against him and the recent assassination attempt.
Trump added that the economy and crime should have gotten more attention considering that five people were killed in Chicago during the DNC.
“I was mentioned, I think, almost 200 times,” Trump said. “And they mentioned the economy about five times. They mentioned the border maybe none. They mentioned crime almost none. So I mean, they’re out of control. These people are out of control. And they’re ruining our nation. Our nation is going to hell.”
Trump’s complaint comes after the Obamas and other DNC speakers tore into him on Tuesday night.
Former First Lady Michelle Obama called out Trump’s racist attacks against both former President Barack Obama and Vice President Kamala Harris.
“For years, Donald Trump did everything in his power to try to make people fear us. See, his limited, narrow view of the world made him feel threatened by the existence of two hard-working, highly educated, successful people who happen to be Black,” Obama said.
“It’s his same old con. His same old con. Doubling down on ugly, misogynistic, racist lies as a substitute for real ideas and solutions that will actually make people’s lives better,” she added.
President Obama also criticized Trump for his use of “childish nicknames,” promoting “crazy conspiracy theories,” and his “weird obsession with crowd sizes.”
