Donald Trump pushed back on accusations that billionaire Elon Musk is calling the shots behind the scenes.

While speaking to Turning Point USA’s AmFest conference on Sunday Trump dismissed ‘President Musk’ taunts from Democrats as a ‘hoax’ adding “no, he [Musk] is not taking the presidency.”

“He’s not going to be president that I can tell you,” Trump insisted. “And I’m safe. You know why? He can’t be. He wasn’t born in this country. But the fake news knows that.”

Democrats have slammed Musk and suggested he is calling the shots instead of Trump after the billionaire tanked a bipartisan spending deal last week.

Some Democrats even began referring to him as “President Musk” and to Trump as the “vice president” amid the spending chaos.

Trump’s team pushed back on the accusation last week, insisting that the president-elect is the leader of the Republican Party.

“As soon as President Trump released his official stance on the CR [continuing resolution], Republicans on Capitol Hill echoed his point of view. President Trump is the leader of the Republican Party. Full stop,” Karoline Leavitt, transition spokesperson for the Trump-Vance team, said in a statement.
