Trump says he will pardon Jan. 6 rioters if he is reelected.

Former President Donald Trump told his supporters at a rally in Conroe, Texas on Saturday night that if he runs and wins the presidency in 2024 he will pardon his supporters charged in connection with the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

“Another thing we’ll do, and so many people have been asking me about it, if I run and if I win, we will treat those people from Jan. 6 fairly,” Trump said. “We will treat them fairly. And if it requires pardons we will give them pardons. Because they are being treated so unfairly.”

Thousands of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol on Jan. 6 to stop the certification of the 2020 presidential election results which Trump and his allies claimed were rigged against him.

761 people have been arrested and charged with crimes of which 165 have pleaded guilty. At least 70 have been sentenced so far.
