Donald Trump slammed President Joe Biden for declining gas prices during a rally in Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday night to support GOP Senate candidate JD Vance.
Trump accused Biden of scheming to lower gas prices for 95 days straight by directed the release of crude from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve. He claims this was only to be done “during war” and “not to keep prices down for an election.”
“He’s using that to keep prices down as much as he can just before the election and right after the election, it’s going to double up and go higher than anybody ever believed,” Trump said at the rally.
But, Trump did the same thing in 2019 after attacks on production facilities in Saudi Arabia severely impacted the kingdom’s crude production, according to CNBC.
Gas prices have declined steadily for 95 days after reaching record highs earlier this year. It is the fastest decline in more than a decade, according to the White House.
