Donald Trump slammed several recent polls that show him trailing Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis in a hypothetical GOP primary matchup.
Trump took to his social media app, Truth Social, to share the results of a poll conducted by pro-Trump firm McLaughlin & Associates that shows him leading DeSantis 58% to 36%.
“This is the McLaughlin & Associates POLL that just came out and which got it right in 2016 & 2020 unlike The WSJ, NBC Fake News, ABC Fake News, Fake Polling FOX NEWS, the dying and very sickly USA Today, and most others in the LameStream Media,” Trump wrote.
“In other words, it is REAL POLLING. As you can see, we are leading by a lot, despite the never ending Communist (Democrat) WEAPONIZED ATTACKS on me and the GREAT PATRIOTS OF MAGA. More to come!!!” he added.
Trump’s post comes as recent polls suggest DeSantis is emerging as a formidable opponent to the former president after the Republican Party’s underwhelming performance in the midterms, which some have blamed on Trump.
A USA Today-Suffolk University poll out this week shows the Florida governor with a 23 point lead over Donald Trump, 56% to 33% among Republicans and Republican-leading independents. A Wall Street Journal poll also released this week shows DeSantis with a 52% to 38% lead over Trump among Republican voters.
