A Trump supporter in Texas told CNN that the former president is unfit for office but she still plans to vote for him in the presidential election in November.
Asked if she thinks Trump is fit to be president if he’s convicted, Kay Swart told CNN, “I don’t think he’s fit, but I’m voting for him.”
Trump is facing 88 criminal charges across four indictments. His first criminal trial is currently under way in New York where he is facing 34 criminal counts of allegedly falsifying business records to cover up hush money payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential election campaign.
Kay told CNN that Trump’s moral character is “terrible,” adding that it “can’t get much lower than it is”.
“He continues to make crazy comments about being a dictator his first day and repercussions against people who he feels have wronged him,” she said.
Kay and her husband Ron are residents of Roberts County, Texas where Trump won 96% of the vote in the 2020 presidential election, making it the most pro-Trump county in the country.
Ron told CNN that “as wrong as it’s going to be” to have Trump as president, he believes the alternative—a Democrat—is much worse.
Other Roberts County residents offered similar sentiments.
