Trump supporter says there will never be a woman president “because of what happened in the Garden of Eden”

A Trump supporter in Virginia says God would never allow a woman to be elected president “because of what happened in the Garden of Eden.”

On Thursday, CNN correspondent Elle Reeve traveled to Virginia to interview a Black woman who owns a store selling pro-Trump merch including Confederate flag swimsuits and a ‘White Privilege Card’.

Reeve also spoke with the store’s patrons including a man identified as Sebriam Vannoy, who gave a bizarre reason for why he thinks the U.S. will never have a female president.

“Kamala Harris, may I say this, and hopefully that you ladies won’t get offended, but because of what happened in the Garden of Eden, there will never be an elected woman, whether she’s black or white, that will occupy the White House, that God would ever stand behind,” Vannoy said.

The Garden of Eden is a biblical paradise where the first man Adam and the first woman, Eve —created from Adam’s rib— lived peacefully until Eve was tempted by a serpent into eating the fruit from the tree of knowledge of good and evil against God’s wishes, thus dooming mankind.

In religious circles the story is portrayed as one of betrayal and that women are subordinate to men.

Another customer, Merrie Turner, told CNN that America is “not quite ready for female leadership,” but adds, “it would be wonderful to have a female president if and when one arises that has conservative values that are going to lead the nation in prosperity.”

In another stunning exchange, the Black store owner, Jo Anne Price told Reeve that Harris is not Black, echoing comments Donald Trump made during a National Association of Black Journalists event when he said Harris “happened to turn Black.”

“I think he’s making a point and, you know, I’m not, I’m not so disturbed by that,” Price said.

“But what is the point he’s making?” Reeve pressed.

“The point he’s making simply is, is that she is not a Black-Black person,” Price responded.

Later in the interview, Price said Trump “has been mocked, scrutinized, slandered, dragged into court. This man is still standing and he’s standing strong because he knows that he was chosen. He’s our David.”
