A Minnesota man who claimed Antifa burned down his trailer during protests in 2020 because he had a Donald Trump flag admitted that he staged the entire thing.
According to a press release from the Department of Justice, Denis Molla, 30, falsely reported to police in September 2020 “that someone had lit his camper on fire and that three unknown males were near his home when he heard an explosion. He also claimed that his garage door was vandalized with spray painted graffiti stating, “Biden 2020,” “BLM,” and an Antifa symbol, and that his camper was targeted because it had a Trump 2020 flag displayed on it”
Molla told the Star Tribune at the time that he and his wife were asleep in their home with their two children, ages 2 and 5-month-old, and their dogs at the time of the incident.
Molla was the one who actually spray painted the graffiti on his garage and set the fire on his property.
He was indicted in July by a federal grand and pleaded guilty to one count of wire fraud after being accused of defrauding and attempting to defraud an insurance agency and GoFundMe donors of more than $300,000 following the alleged incident, according to CNN.
Molla faces a possible sentence of 4 years in prison.
