Former President Donald Trump will appear at a CNN town hall next week in New Hampshire, the network announced on Monday.
CNN said the event will take place at St. Anselm College on May 10. It will be moderated by “CNN This Morning” anchor Kaitlan Collins and air at 9 p.m. Eastern.
The former president will take questions from Republicans in New Hampshire and undeclared voters who plan to vote in the 2024 GOP presidential primary.
In a statement the network said it “has a longstanding tradition of hosting leading presidential candidates for town halls and political events as a critical component of the network’s robust campaign coverage.”
Trump’s scheduled town hall on CNN is a break from the former president’s usually appearances on conservative media outlets, suggesting he is trying to reach voters outside the Republican base.
CNN has been one of Trump’s favorite media targets. During his time in the White House he called the network “fake news” and would regularly spar with reporters from CNN during White House press briefings. Just last October, he sued the network for defamation over its coverage of his role in the Jan. 6, 2021 Capitol attack.
