Vivek Ramaswamy has presented himself as Donald Trump’s biggest supporter in the GOP presidential primary, but now the former president is warning his supporters not to trust him.
“Vivek started his campaign as a great supporter, “the best President in generations,” etc. Unfortunately, now all he does is disguise his support in the form of deceitful campaign tricks,” Trump wrote on Truth Social Saturday. “Very sly, but a vote for Vivek is a vote for the “other side” — don’t get duped by this. Vote for “TRUMP,” don’t waste your vote! Vivek is not MAGA.”
Trump’s comments come days before the Iowa caucuses. The former president is ahead in the polls and Ramaswamy is at the back of the pack.
But, on the campaign trail Ramaswamy has been telling voters that the deep state won’t allow Trump to be the Republican nominee, and is promoting himself as the alternative, according to CBS News.
“Next year, there’s gonna be a lot of unexpected things that play out in 2024. If you want to follow where this road ends, my concern is they’re not going to let certain candidates like Donald Trump get to the finish line,” Ramaswamy said.
He has also been telling Iowa voters that they should caucus for him to “save Trump.”
The former president faces a mountain of legal troubles, including 91 felony charges across four indictments. Ramaswamy has repeatedly said he will pardon Trump if he is elected.
