Trump warns Lindsey Graham to ‘be careful with your mouth’

Donald Trump issued a warning to critics of his Ukraine policy, like Sen. Lindsay Graham (R-SC), telling them to choose their words carefully.

Graham and former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo visited Ukraine last month amid Russia’s ongoing invasion of the country.

Graham and Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) met with Ukraine President Volodymyr Zelensky to discuss strengthening U.S. sanctions against Russia and ongoing peace negotiations.

Pompeo visited Odesa, Ukraine where he called on Trump to reject recognizing Russian sovereignty over territory it seized by force as the Trump administration signaled their willingness to do just that.

“I get the frustration … I’m not naive about what’s physically possible in this moment, but that doesn’t mean one should go and say, ‘and we are giving up for all time,'” he said, according to The Hill. “This is one of the things I hope to communicate.”

In New Jersey on Friday a reporter accused both Graham and Pompeo of allegedly “trying to provoke the Ukrainians” to continue the fight against Russia, which drew a warning from Trump.

“People have to be very careful with what they say,” he said in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. ‘They’ve got to be careful with their mouth! Because their mouth can get them into a lot of trouble!”
