Donald Trump was ‘very involved’ in selecting the jury that ultimately convicted him in his New York hush money case, according to his lawyer Todd Blanche.
In an interview with Fox News host Jesse Watters on Thursday, Blanche was asked whether he was satisfied with the jury and if the former president had any say in the jury selection process.
“I mean, very much involved,” Blanche responded, according to a clip shared by Mediaite. “He was right there with the whole team talking about the potential jurors.”
Trump became the first former US president to be convicted of a felony on Thursday after he was found guilty of all 34 charges in a scheme to illegally influence the 2016 election by paying hush money to a porn actor who said they had sex.
“This is a rigged, disgraceful trial. The real verdict is going to be November 5th by the people,” Trump told reporters outside the courtroom. “They know what happened here and everybody knows what happened here. You have the [George] Soros D.A. The whole thing. We didn’t do a thing wrong. I’m a very innocent man.”
Trump’s sentencing is set for July 11, just days before the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee.
