Trump’s DOJ shuts down investigation into Tom Homan alleged $50k bribe.

The Department of Justice under Donald Trump reportedly shut down an investigation of border czar Tom Homan allegedly accepting a bribe from undercover FBI agents.

According to a report from MSNBC, Homan was targeted in an undercover operation last year after the FBI received a tip in western Texas from a subject in a separate investigation claiming that Homan was soliciting payments in exchange for awarding contracts in a second Trump term.

FBI agents, posing as business executives, reportedly recorded Homan accepting $50,000 in cash after indicating he could help the agents win government contracts should Trump win the election, MSNBC reported citing “multiple people familiar with the probe,” as well as internal documents.

Federal law enforcement officials were reportedly waiting to see if Homan would deliver on his promise once he became a top official in Trump’s administration, but the investigation stalled once Trump returned to the White House and in recent weeks, Trump appointees officially closed the case after FBI Director Kash Patel requested a status update on the case, according to the report.

“This matter originated under the previous administration and was subjected to a full review by FBI agents and Justice Department prosecutors. They found no credible evidence of any criminal wrongdoing,” Patel and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche told MSNBC in a statement. “The Department’s resources must remain focused on real threats to the American people, not baseless investigations. As a result, the investigation has been closed.”
