Trump’s FCC chair mocks Democrats ‘wailing’ over Colbert cancellation.

Donald Trump’s Federal Communications Commission (FCC) chair, Brendan Carr mocked Democrats on Tuesday for slamming CBS over the network’s decision to cancel “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.”

“The partisan left’s ritualist wailing and gnashing of teeth over Colbert is quite revealing,” Carr wrote  in a post on X. “They’re acting like they’re losing a loyal DNC spokesperson that was entitled to an exemption from the laws of economics.”

CBS announced last Thursday that it was ending The Late Show for “financial reasons,” despite Colbert being the highest rated late night host.

The decision to end Colbert’s show came days after the host publicly criticize CBS parent company Paramount Global for settling a $16 million lawsuit with Trump.

Colbert has been an outspoken critic of Trump on late night TV, leading to speculation that his show’s cancellation was likely political and linked to the pending merger of CBS-parent Paramount Global with Skydance, which the Trump administration, through the FCC must approve.

According to The Independent, Carr met with David Ellison, the CEO of Skydance Media and the son of pro-Trump billionaire Larry Ellison and Ellison’s lawyers just two days before CBS announced their decision to cancel Colbert’s show.

Carr is a Project 2025 contributor who has called for using the FCC to punish broadcasters he believes are unfair to Trump.

He had also threatened to cancel the Paramount-Skydance merger after the “60 Minutes” interview with then-Vice President Kamala Harris which gave rise to Trump’s bizarre lawsuit accusing the network of ‘deceptively editing’ the interview.
