Donald Trump’s former Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, said on Friday that he will definitely not be voting for his former boss, but he’s “not there yet” on supporting Joe Biden.
“I’m definitely not voting for Trump, but I’m not there yet,” Esper told Bill Maher on his HBO show Real Time with Bill Maher, when asked if he would support Biden.
“There’s no way I’ll vote for Trump, but every day that Trump does something crazy, the door to voting for Biden opens a little bit more, and that’s where I’m at,” Esper added.
Trump fired Esper in a tweet shortly after the 2020 presidential election. He has since been a critic of the former president, recently calling him a “threat to democracy.”
“I do regard him as a threat to democracy, democracy as we know it, our institutions, our political culture, all those things that make America great and have defined us as, you know, the oldest democracy on this planet,” he told CNN earlier this year.
