Trump's former impeachment team quit after a dispute over legal fees, legal strategy report says.

Over the weekend it was reported that Donald Trump’s entire impeachment legal team quit amid a dispute over legal strategy. But, that’s not the whole story.

According to Axios, Trump and his lead impeachment attorney Butch Bowers had a disagreement over pay. They had initially agreed that Trump would pay him $250,000 to represent him, a figure that “delighted” Trump. But, that figure did not include additional expenses like more lawyers, researchers and other legal fees.

Trump was reportedly livid with Bowers when the lawyer present him with a total budget of $3 million. Trump and his political team believed the case was straightforward since 45 Republican senators already voted to dismiss the trial as unconstitutional.

Trump eventually negotiated the bill down to $1 million but, the dispute over fees added to the group’s frustrations and they ultimately quit.

“These guys are no longer relevant. We have our lawyers in place, we have a solid team, and we’re looking ahead,” Jason Miller told Axios.

Trump announced his new team of Bruce Castor and David Schoen on Sunday.
