Trump's Mar-a-Lago neighbors tell him to live elsewhere after he leaves the White House.

Donald Trump and his family are planning to move to his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida after he exits the White House next month. But, if his neighbors have their way, he would have to make other arrangements.

Some of his neighbors are taking legal action to try and prevent him from permanently moving there, according to the Washington Post.

They have written a letter to Palm Beach authorities and the US secret service saying that Trump has no legal right to move there permanently, because of an agreement he signed in 1993 when he turned his private residence to a private club. The agreement bars members from spending more than 21 days per year there or for more than seven days straight.

An attorney representing one of Mar-a-Lago’s neighbors is asking Palm Beach officials to notify Donald Trump that he is not allowed to live there to avoid an “embarrassing situation” where a former United States President could potentially be evicted.

“There’s absolutely no legal theory under which he can use that property as both a residence and a club,” Glenn Zeitz, a Palm Beach homeowner told the Post. “Basically he’s playing a dead hand. He’s not going to intimidate or bluff people because we’re going to be there.”

Trump’s relationship with his neighbors will not help his current situation. The Post reports that they often complained about disruptions like traffic snarls caused by Trump’s visits and his flouting of local requirements such as a flagpole that violated height caps.
