Donald Trump’s new social media app Truth Social became available for download in the Apple App Store on Sunday night but some users are having difficulties and the app reportedly experienced an outage shortly after launch.
According to Reuters, some users who downloaded the app reported seeing error messages when they tried to create an account. “Something went wrong. Please try again,” the message read.
Others reported they were placed on a waitlist and given a number after signing up. “Due to massive demand, we have placed you on our waitlist,” the message reads.
By Monday morning, Truth Social said it had experienced a “partial outage” shortly after launch.
“The Truth Social application is online, although user creation is currently rate-limited during our rollout,” a message on the site reads. “We will expand capacity over the coming hours to enable more users to join Truth Social.”
Trump was kicked off mainstream social media platforms after the deadly Jan. 6 insurrection at the Capitol. He announced plans in October to launch Truth Social, saying it would “stand up to the tyranny of Big Tech.” However, screenshots of the site shows it looks similar to Twitter.
Trump Media and Technology group CEO former congressman Devin Nunes told Fox News the company plans to have the app fully operational by the end of March.
“This week we’ll begin to roll out people on the Apple App store,” Nunes said. “Our goal is, I think we’re going to hit it, I think by the by the end of March we’re going to be fully operational at least within the United States.”
