Tuberville tells RFK Jr his granddaughter will not get vaccinated because her parents ‘did their research on vaccines’

Tuberville blames GOP leadership for not vetting Katie Britt's speech.

Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) announced Thursday that his soon to be born granddaughter will not be vaccinated because her parents have done their own research on the matter.

Tuberville made the comment at the confirmation hearing for Robert Kennedy Jr, a prominent anti-vaxxer who was nominated for Donald Trump to lead the department of Health and Human services.

“I’ve had my first granddaughter here in a couple of weeks,” Tuberville told RFK Jr. “My son and his wife have done their research about vaccines, and she’s not going to be a pin cushion. We’re not going to allow that to happen.”

“But you brought that up,” he continued. “As you and I talked about vaccines, [you said], ‘Coach, let’s empower scientists to do their job. Let’s don’t just do something for the pharmaceutical company, so I appreciate you doing that.”

RFK Jr, a prominent antivaxxer, has baselessly claimed that vaccines cause childhood autism.

However, Caroline Kennedy, RFK Jr’s cousin revealed this week that all his children are vaccinated even as he is encouraging other parents to not vaccinate their child.

“His views on vaccines are dangerous and willfully misinformed,” she wrote in a letter to Congress, then read in a social media post. “Bobby preys on the desperation of parents of sick children, vaccinating his own kids, while building a following hypocritically discouraging other parents from vaccinating theirs.”
