Fox News host Tucker Carlson supports the Canadian truckers blocking border crossings in protest of COVID-19 restrictions and vaccine mandates in parts of Ottawa, and for the price of $35 you can show your support as well by purchasing a shirt from this website.
Carlson is selling a ‘Pro Trucker, Pro Freedom Shirt’ in his online store with the slogan “I ❤ Tucker” edited to say “I ❤ Truckers.”
Ottawa was placed under a state of emergency due to the protest and on Saturday, police began clearing out protesters who blocked the Ambassador Bridge on the US-Canadian border.
During the height of the protest conservative figures applauded the truckers for bringing Ottawa to a standstill and hurting small businesses. Republican Sen. Rand Paul even suggested that truckers should do the same in the US.
According to liberal watchdog group Media Matters for America, between Jan. 18 through Thursday, Fox News Channel had devoted 10 hours and 8 minutes of airtime to cover the protest in Canada.
The network’s favorable coverage of the anti-vaccine mandate protesters is “hypocritical” according to former Fox correspondent Carl Cameron, considering Fox News has a vaccine mandate and like the truckers, 90% of their staff is vaccinated.
“It strikes me as a tremendous amount of hypocrisy for these opinion hosts to be cheering on these truckers that are doing some considerable economic damage to Canada as well as to the US and essentially they’re already vaccinated for the most part,” Cameron said. “So there’s a tremendous amount of hypocrisy and it comes down to one thing, they wanna have more eyeballs which gets them more money. Money and power is what drives a lot of the right-wing cable.”
