Fox News host Tucker Carlson said in a text message that he “passionately” hates Donald Trump and could not wait to ignore him.
Two days before the Jan. 6 Capitol attack, Carlson texted an unknown Fox employee, “We are very, very close to being able to ignore Trump most nights. I truly can’t wait.”
“I hate him passionately,” he added.
The text messages were revealed in a court filing on Tuesday in Dominion Voting Systems $1.6 billion lawsuit against Fox Corp and Fox News for allegedly defaming the company after the 2020 presidential election.
In text messages released in court filings last month, Carlson called Trump “a demonic force, a destroyer.” He also said Trump was good at “destroying things. He’s the undisputed world champion of that. He could easily destroy us if we play it wrong.”
Despite this, Carlson hosted MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell on his show weeks later to promote Trump’s debunked claims of election fraud.
Tuesday’s court filing also included emails from Fox Corp. chairman Rupert Murdoch wondering if hosts Laura Ingraham and Sean Hannity “went too far” in promoting debunked claims of voter fraud.
