Tucker Carlson: The Republican Party is "inept" and "bad at governing"

Fox News host Tucker Carlson lambasted the Republican Party in an interview with Time, calling them “inept” and ineffective leaders.

Asked why most elected Republican leaders were dethroned in the last election Carlson said, “first of all, they’re inept and bad at governing.”

“The party is much more effective as an oppositional force than it is as a governing party,” he added.

He believes the GOP abdicated their political responsibilities when they did not release a substantial policy platform leading up to the 2020 presidential election.

“That’s disgraceful, in my opinion,” he said. “What’s the point in having a convention or a political party more broadly if you can’t be bothered to define what it is you stand for? I found that contemptible.”

Carlson also dismissed speculation that he might run for president in 2024.

“That seems like the unhappiest job you could have,” he told Time. “I just don’t have any ambitions like that. I have zero interest in being loved by people I don’t know.”

He also did not appear to be enthusiastic about Donald Trump running again either. He suggested that the excitement around Trump was really just about conservative “dissidents” wanting to be “protected” from the left.
