This comes after a number of states across the country saw an increase in positivity rates in November which led to this month being the worst on record since the pandemic began with over 3 million confirmed cases.

The rate of hospitalizations is also at its highest since the start of the pandemic. On Thanksgiving day, the country recorded 90,481 hospitalizations, breaking the record of 89,959 set on Thanksgiving Eve. According to data from the COVID tracking project, the country seems poise to break that record for the third day in a row. 89,934 Americans are currently hospitalized with the coronavirus so far today.
