Ukrainian authorities thwart plot to assassinate Zelensky: Report.

137 Ukrainians killed and hundreds more injured on first day of attack.

Ukrainian authorities say they thwarted a plot to assassinate their president Volodymyr Zelensky amid the ongoing Russian invasion.

According to Axios, Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council chief Oleksiy Danilov said members of Russia’s Federal Security Service who do not support the war told them about the plan that involved an elite Chechen special forces known as Kadyrovites.

“We are well aware of the special operation that was to take place directly by the Kadyrovites to eliminate our president,” Danilov said, according to a Telegram post from Ukrainian authorities.

The members of the Kadyrovite group behind the plan have been “eliminated,” according to Danilov.

Since the start of the invasion, Zelensky has said he’s the Russians’ main target as Putin looks to take over the country and install a puppet government loyal to him.

On Friday he told his country that Russian saboteurs had entered the capital Kyiv and that he was Russia’s “number one target,” and his family, including his wife Olena, 44, and two children, aged 17 and nine are target number 2.
