Undercover cop arrests woman on hate crime charges for hurling anti-Asian slurs at him.

A plainclothes NYPD officer arrested a woman in Chinatown after she harassed staff members inside an Asian nail salon on Tuesday.

According to CBS 2, the woman, identified as Sharon Williams was arrested on Tuesday night after she used racial slurs, threatened violence against the mostly Asian staff and said, “You brought the corona to this country.”

She was harassing another Asian person outside the salon when the plainclothes officer, also Asian, intervened. She turned her hate and anger at him as well not realising he was a cop.

Police told The Washington Post that the undercover officer was part of an effort launched by the NYPD to put plainclothes police on the street in areas where high levels of anti-Asian hate incidents are occurring in an effort to stop them as they happen.

Williams faces charges of harassment as a hate crime as well as aggravated harassment as a hate crime, according to the Post.
