UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was shot and killed in New York on Wednesday morning in what may have been a targeted attack, according to multiple reports.
Thompson, 50, was shot in the chest by masked man around 6:46 a.m. outside of New York Hilton Midtown, where the company was set to hold an investor meeting, the New York Post reports.
He was taken to Mount Sinai West in critical condition, where he was pronounced dead.
Sources told the New York Post that the suspect had been “milling” around the vicinity of the hotel before he shot and killed Thompson. The suspect fled the scene on a bike and remains at large.
