The United States set a new record for the number of COVID-19 vaccines administered in a single day so far on Saturday, according to the White House.
White House COVID-19 Data Director Cyrus Shahpar announced on Saturday that the country administered approximately 3.5 million doses of COVID vaccines, beating the previous record of 3.4 million set the day before.
As of Saturday 50,141,769 people are fully vaccinated against COVID-19, or 15.1 percent of the U.S.’s total population, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
So far, 91,707,729 people, or 27.6 percent, have received at least one dose of the vaccine.
The news comes days after President Biden doubled his previous goal of administering 100 million vaccine doses in 100 days to 200 million doses km his first 100 days in office.
