Vance agrees to debate Walz in October.

The vice-presidential debate between Gov. Tim Walz (D-MN) and Sen. JD Vance will take place on October 1 on CBS.

On Wednesday, Walz had agreed to the October debate writing on X/Twitter: “See you on October 1, JD.”

Vance accepted the challenge Thursday and called for more VP debates than the usual one per cycle.

“The American people deserve as many debates as possible, which is why President Trump has challenged Kamala to three of them already,” Vance wrote in response to Walz. “Not only do I accept the CBS debate on October 1st, I accept the CNN debate on September 18th as well. I look forward to seeing you at both!”

It is unclear whether Walz would agree to debate Vance on Sept. 18 on CNN.

In a fundraising email sent to supporters, Walz said he plans to make their October debate about Project 2025–an extremist policy and staffing initiative to reshape the federal government to support the agenda of the next Republican president.

“JD Vance shares Donald Trump’s dangerous and backward agenda for this country,” Walz wrote. “Folks, I just agreed to debate JD Vance on October 1. Boy, I’ve got to tell you, I can’t wait to debate the guy.”

“Heck, he even wrote the foreword for the architect of the Project 2025 agenda,” he added. “I am going to do my best to make sure everyone watching our debate knows just that.”

The vice presidential debate will take place after the first planned presidential debate between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump. That debate is currently scheduled for Sept. 10 and will be hosted by ABC News.

Trump has proposed two additional debates but the Harris camp says that is dependent on whether or not Trump shows up for the scheduled debate on September 10.
