Virginia school board member arrested on Capitol riot charges.

Miles Adkins, a member of the Frederick County School Board in Virginia, has been arrested for his role in the Jan. 6 Capitol riot.

Adkins was arrested Tuesday and charged with four misdemeanors including, entering and remaining in a restricted building; disruptive conduct in a restricted building; disorderly conduct in a Capitol building; and unlawful picketing in a Capitol building, according to NBC News.

Prosecutors say Adkins bragged about drinking Fireball and Coors Light in the U.S. Capitol during the attack and was communicating with a member of the far-right militia group the Oath Keepers.

Members of the Oath Keepers were convicted of seditious conspiracy for their roles in the Jan.6 Capitol attack. The group’s founder Stewart Rhodes was sentenced to 18 years in federal prison.

Authorities also have video showing Adkins helping other rioters enter the Capitol building through a broken window on Jan. 6.

Adkins was elected to the Frederick Country School board in 2021 and faced calls to resign last June after he was charged with driving under the influence.

Nearly 1,300 people have been arrested for their roles in the Jan. 6 Capitol attack. 900 have been convicted so far.
