Russian President Vladimir Putin is growing increasingly paranoid behind the scenes and fears that someone in his inner circle might poison him so he is taking extra precautions to protect himself.
Daily Beast contributing editor Craig Copetas, told Inside Edition that Putin has replaced his entire personal staff of 1,000 people and is even having people taste his food before he eats it.
“Laundresses, secretaries, cooks — to a whole new group of people. The assessment from the intelligence community is that he’s scared,” Copetas said.
Russia’s preferred method of assassination is poisoning.
According to ABC News, “the list of those who have troubled the Russian government or security services and then suffered poisoning is lengthy.”
It is believed that Putin’s agents poisoned critic Alexander Litvinenko in 2006 by spiking a pot of tea with radioactive poison. They also sprayed poison on the front door of former spy Sergei Skripal in 2018. And in 2020 Putin allegedly ordered the poisoning of Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny.
Skripal and Navalny survived. The latter is currently imprisoned in Russia.
