Supporters of Donald Trump gave an unusual one-finger salute as dramatic music played in the background during the former president’s speech at a rally in Youngstown, Ohio on Saturday night to support GOP Senate candidate JD Vance.

As Trump ranted about the country being in decline, Russia’s invasion of Ukraine, the issue of “fake news”, and Hunter Biden’s laptop members of the audience raised one finger to the sky in a weird salute as dramatic music played in the background.

According to watchdog group Media Matters, the song that played at the rally appeared to have been released under the name Wwg1wga, which is the QAnon slogan. It means “where we go one, we go all”.

“QAnon figures are claiming the use of the song brings some kind of legitimacy for them,” Alex Kaplan, a senior researcher for Media Matters, said in a tweet on Saturday.

Trump posted a video on his social media platform Truth Social last month using the same audio and QAnon followers previously said that the former president’s use of the song was “THE mother of all Q proofs” and “the biggest nod they’ve ever given us,” according to Media Matters.

The one-finger salute is also being described by experts on the conspiracy theory as a potential nod to the QAnon movement.

“Some on Twitter are calling it a QAnon salute, with 1 finger for ‘Where we go 1,’ and Trump is playing a pro-Q song as he talks,” Will Sommer, author of an upcoming book on QAnon wrote in a tweet on Saturday.

On right-wing forums some people are confused about the salute.

“Some people think it’s for Where We Go 1 We Go All — the QAnon catchphrase,” NBC reporter Ben Collins wrote. “Others think it’s to symbolize America First.
